"Alicia en el país de las maravillas" de Lewis Carroll es uno de los cuentos de hadas más queridos que tanto niños como adultos de todo el mundo disfrutan releyendo.
Pero al mismo tiempo también es una de las obras más difíciles de traducir a otros idiomas. El autor utiliza generosamente metáforas, referencias y juegos de palabras que solo son comprensibles para los británicos, explota las canciones infantiles populares y las características culturales. La obra está llena de sutilezas filológicas, matices y humor lingüístico.
El traductor se enfrenta a la tarea más difícil: transmitir toda esta variedad de significados y hacerla comprensible para un pequeño lector de habla rusa. Incluso Vladimir Nabokov se encargó de la traducción y, en su versión, Alice de repente se convirtió en Anya. ¿Por qué se hace esto y qué traducción del cuento se considera canónica?
